3D Studio Max Setup Reference Images.
Hi everyone, welcome to today’s tutorial on setting up reference images to prepare to help model an object.
1. click box button
2. click and drag out a box in top view
3. change length to 0.1cm, width to 800cm, and height is 200cm
4. click box button
5. click and drag out a box in top view
6. change length to 300.00cm, width to 0.1cm, and height is 200cm
7. press M, to open material editor
8. click empty material slot
9. click Maps section heading
10. click button besides diffuse colour
11. double-click Bitmap
12. select tank image, eg. Tank Front
13. click on thin box, to select it
14. click assign material to selection
15. click show map in viewport
16. repeat steps 8 to 15, except use image of Tank Side, instead
note: to freeze a plane or thin box, to prevent accidental selection or movement => select object, right-click and select object properties, and then uncheck ‘Show Frozen in Gray’, and check Freeze
note: to unfreeze frozen objects, right-click on the windows, select unfreeze all
