Photoshop Brush Metal Effect
Hi everyone, welcome to today’s tutorial. Today, we will be learn how to create the brush metal effect.
1. click create new layer button
2. double-click layer name, and type the new name for the layer, eg. metalbar (this step is optional, but it makes organizing your image easier), and press enter
3. click rectangular marquee tool, or press M
4. click and drag rectangular selection (the brush metal effect will be contained in this selection)
5. select gradient tool (the gradient tool maybe hidden ‘under’ the paint bucket tool, so in that case, click and hold paint bucket tool, and then select gradient tool from the flyout)
6. click gradient picker dropdown box
7. double-click copper gradient
8. click and drag within rectangular selection, from its upper left to its lower right
9. press Shift + Ctrl + U, to desaturate current image selection (i.e. make image grayscale, i.e. remove colour from the image selection)
10. select Image > Adjustments > Levels
11. click and drag the shadow point, or the lower left black triangle to the right, till output levels is about 120, and click OK (this makes the shadows lighter, which makes the image look lighter overall)
12. select Filter > Noise > Add Noise
13. change amount to 20
14. select distribution of Gaussian
15. ensure Monochromatic checkbox is checked (this ensures only grayscaled ‘noise’ is added, instead of multicolored ‘noise’)
16. click OK
17. select Filter > Blur > Motion Blur
18. change angle to 0
19. change distance to 200
20. click OK
note: you can also add layer styles such as bevel and emboss and drop shadow to the metalbar layer, and also add some text to make a simple poster
