Backup email for Outlook

Good day, everyone. Welcome to today’s tutorial on backing up your email for Microsoft Outlook.

right-click personal folder and select properties

1. right-click personal folders, and select properties

click advanced button

2. click advanced

select filename field value

3. select the complete path for the filename, excluding the actual filename itself, which is usually outlook.pst, and then copy this value with ctrl+c

note:

  • this path is usually C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

4. click ok

5. click ok

6. run windows explorer

7. paste the previously copied value of the path in address textbox, and press enter, to go to dir, containing the outlook.pst file

go to folder with pst file to be copied

8. copy this outlook.pst file to thumb drive, etc, and keep this copy as backup in case the original file becomes corrupted

note:

  • outlook.pst file is the file which contains all your stored messages
