Change a computer into a Domain Controller
Hi everyone, today, we will be changing a computer into a domain controller.
1. run command prompt
2. type dcpromo, and click ok
3. at welcome to active directory installation wizard page, click next
4. at operating system compatibility page, click next
5. at domain controller type page, select domain controller for a new domain option, and click next
6. at create new domain page, select domain in a new forest option, and click next
7. at install or configure dns page, select ‘no, just install and configure dns on this computer’ option, and click next
8. at new domain name page, enter appropriate value for full dns name for the new domain (eg. nfam.com), and click next
9. at netbios domain name page, enter appropriate value for domain netbios name (eg. NFAM)
10. at database and log folders, can just leave the default values (which should be c:\windows\ntds, and c:\windows\ntds for active directory database and active directory log’s folder, respectively, assuming windows 2003 server is installed in drive C), and click next
11. at shared system volume page, can just leave the default value (which should be c:\windows\sysvol for sysvol folder, assuming windows 2003 server is installed in drive C), and click next
12. at permissions page, select ‘permissions compatible only with windows 2000 or windows server 2003 operating systems’, click next
13. at directory services restore mode administrator password page, enter appropriate values for restore mode password and confirm password, and click next
14. at summary page, click next
15. at completing the active directory installation wizard page, click finish
16. click restart now (must restart pc before changes made by active directory installation wizard take effect)
