Save MBR as file

Hi everyone, ever have days when your pc just refuses to start? well, one possible reason maybe due to corrupted mbr (master boot record), so today we will learn how to save mbr (Master Boot Record) as a file, which we can later restore from, to get the pc booting up properly properly again.

1. use ubcdforwin cd (ensure nu2menu is running, under programs\nusmenu)

note: ubcdforwin can be downloaded freely and used to create a bootable cd, containing many useful rescue utilities

2. select start > programs > disk tools > partition > mbrwizard

note: assume you have already booted your pc using the bootable ubcdforwin cd

3. press 8, and enter, to save mbr to filenote: mbr stands for Master Boot record, and is used for your pc to boot up properly

4. enter hard disk, and path and filename to save the mbr to

note: hard disk is represented by a number, eg. 0 (the first hard disk is considered hard disk#0, second hard disk is considered #1, and so on)

note: file name is actually the full path and filename for the file to save the mbr to, eg. d:\al070506.mbr
