Photoshop Create a Post-It Note

Post-it notes effect in use
Hi everyone, welcome to today’s new tutorial, where we will learn how to create the post-it note effect. The above picture shows you the post-it note effect being used, in this case, to add a post-it note to the poster.
1. open new file
2. press M, to select rectangular marquee tool
3. click Add new layer button
4. press Shift, then click and drag out a square selection in the file
5. click foreground color box, and select yellow color, which looks like the color of a post-it note
6. press Alt + Backspace, to fill current selection with current foreground color (in this case, yellow)
7. press Ctrl + D, to de-select current selection
8. press Shift, then click and drag out another square selection to surround the current yellow square
9. select Filter > Distort > Shear, to open Shear dialog box
10. click and drag middle of the line, to the left, to ‘bend’ the yellow square, so it looks like a slightly used post-it note, and click OK
11. press Ctrl + J, to duplicate current layer
12. press D, to select default foreground (default foreground color is black) and background color
13. press Alt + Shift + Backspace, to fill images in current layer with the current foreground color (which in this case, is black)
14. click and drag the layer with the black image (layer with the black image will be turned into the shadow) below layer with the yellow image
15. press V, to select Move tool
16. press a few times on the down and right arrow keys, to move black image down and to the right of the yellow image
17. press Ctrl + T, to use Free Transform
18. press Ctrl, then click and drag the top center node, to the left, to skew the top of the black image to the left
19. press Ctrl, then click and drag the bottom center node, to the right , to skew the bottom of the black image to the right
20. press Ctrl, then click drag upper left corner node, to right and down, to distort the black image (i.e. the shadow), so no part of the black image will appear on the left of the yellow image (i.e. the post-it note)
21. select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and enter 3 pixels for radius, and click OK, to blur the black image, to make it look more like a natural shadow
note: to create a poster, drag-drop photo into a new file, then merge the post-it and its shadow into a single layer, then drag-drop the this merged layer into this new file, use text tool to type some text over the post-it note, merge post-it note and text, then use free transform to resize and rotate the merged post-it note and text, position it with move tool, and add some more text, and you’ll have the poster that was shown at the top of the page
