Photoshop Using Extract Filter
Using photoshop to extract image from background with extract filter
Preparation for using Extract Filter:
1. Select layer containing original image, including original background
2. Press Ctrl+J, to duplicate selected layer
note: its best to work on a duplicate layer, in case you wish to undo changes later
Using Extract Filter:

1. Select Filter > Extract, to open Extract Filter dialog box

2. Click Highlighter tool, or press B, to select Highlighter tool
note: you can adjust size of Highlighter by click [ or ] keys, to decrease or increase brush size, respectively
3. Click and drag along the edge between dog and the background of dog
note: click Eraser tool, or press E, to select Eraser tool, and use Eraser tool, to erase extra or wrong lines
4. Click Fill tool, or press G, to select Fill tool, and click inside the outlined dog
note:
if the fill tool causes entire image to be filled, it means that the outlined you have created has holes, so use Brush tool again, and fill in the parts of the outline (seen in green) which have holes, then use Fill tool to click within the outlined shape again.
the fill (seen in blue) should only cover things outlined by the blue highlighter tool
5. click Preview
6. click OK
Change background:
1. drag and drop new background from another image into file with extracted image
2. click and drag layer containing new background image, to below the layer containing the extracted image
